Part Finder

An inside sales rep types what a customer asked for and gets the part, the equivalents, the nearest stock and a quote.

Prototype First built for an industrial distributor's inside sales team · 2026

Customers call with a part number, or with a description like "24 volt DIN-rail relay". The rep types it as said. Part Finder returns the matches ranked, says why each one matched and what differs, finds safe equivalents, shows which branches hold stock nearest the customer, weighs nearer against cheaper, and builds a quote ready to paste into an email or the CRM.

The moment it earns its keepA customer is on the phone asking for something that's out of stock; the rep names a safe equivalent, where it is and what it costs before the call ends.

What it proves we can do

Four things it does.

01

Search the way customers talk

Part numbers or loose descriptions, with every result explaining what matched and what didn't.

02

Equivalents you can defend

Substitutes qualify only where specs are equal, or higher where higher is safe, and say so.

03

Near versus cheap

Branches with stock, nearest first, and exactly what driving further would save.

04

A quote in one click

Priced again from the data, never from the screen, and ready to paste.

What it shares with the rest of the Lab.

The same things we know how to do keep coming back in different industries. This is where this one sits: what it proves, and what else proves the same thing.

Search that explains itself Loose human wording in, ranked results out, each saying what matched and what differs. Also proved by Engineering Library, Application Engineering.

Matching a person can check Weights, hard requirements and capacity — arithmetic with its reasons attached, never a model's hunch. Also proved by Referral Engine, Referral Platform, Insurance-aware Intake.

Every claim traced to its source Nothing is asserted without the passage, part number or measurement behind it. Also proved by Podcast Maker, Engineering Library, Reconstruction Research Studio, Application Engineering, Research Benchmark, Research Runtime.

Plain language, no training day One action per screen, words the user already uses, and errors that say what to do next. Also proved by Tesryn Signal, Reconstruction Research Studio, Referral Engine, Command Center, Tesryn Launch, Referral Platform, Insurance-aware Intake.

The whole map — six sections, and everything that proves them.

  • The assistant may only mention parts that search actually found. Anything else is removed before you see it.
  • Works on the team's own catalogue from a spreadsheet, no code needed.

What it isn't. Not a replacement for the ordering system. It gets the rep to the right answer faster.

We'll tell you what it can do. Not how it's built.

Yours would be your own build, on your systems, and you'd own it outright: code, documentation, no lock-in. What we bring to it is the practice — we've solved this shape of problem before, so you're not paying for the first attempt. The method stays ours. And if what you need isn't here at all, that's the usual case — it's how every skill on this page started.
